The subject matter of the study is the investment initiative of the Municipality of Sozopol and the Mayor’s Office of Chernomorets for the rehabilitation, expansion, and modernization of the existing fishing pier in Chernomorets.
The Municipality of Sozopol, as the owner of the facilities, plans to apply for funding under the Project for Grants in the Operational Programme for Fisheries Development (2007-2013); Priority axis 3 – ‘Measures of Common Interest’; Measure 3.3 – ‘Investments for Reconstruction and Modernization of Fisheries, Unloading Docks, and Covered Boat Berths’. In the remaining part of 2010 and by mid 2011 all preliminary, preparatory, and organizational / administrative tasks will have to be completed by the Municipality and the administration authorities. The deadline for drawdown of the funds under the Operational Programme for Fisheries Development is 31 December 2012. The operation of the renovated port is planned for early 2013 through a special structure – a municipal company, a fisheries association, etc. – supported by the Mayor’s Office of Chernomorets.
The feasibility studies of the St. Nicola Fishing Port in Chernomorets, Municipality of Sozopol, covered the following main groups of research:
